Hexley were the perfect fit for Picador PLC. We had several companies tender for the works but only Hexley were able to promise delivery within the timescales we required, and to their absolute credit they did just that. They were there for us every step of the way, and delivered a first class showroom.
A design and build project was undertaken to provide a brand new building and interior fit-out that complied with Renault UK specifications for a new 8 car showroom for the Renault Dacia brands.
The building was constructed on a site previously used as a used car sales site, owned by Picador PLC. As the principal contractor, we took control of half of the total site to confine our activities to a contained CDM controlled site, while allowing the client to continue their used car sales activities.
The first works were to insert 24 no. 8 metre piles into the soft ground to allow the main rafted concrete base to be laid over as the building was to be placed on non-supporting sub-surface. Once this was complete, the main steel portal frame was installed, followed by the installation of cold-rolled steel, to which the external cladding and roof were fixed.
A partial dry shell was then created, allowing for the start of internal fit-out, which began with the electrical and mechanical first fix infrastructure. The final phase of works involved the installation of external glazing and the completion of the interior fit-out of wall linings, ceilings, ceiling bulkheads, partitioning, WC's, kitchen, and flooring.
All elements of the entire project were pre-programmed through pre-start meetings and MS Project Programming software, which allowed us to collate all the separate trades lead times and installation dates, resulting in an incredibly quick start-to-finish build time of 20 weeks.
We were delighted to hand the keys over to Picador PLC, who were able to immediately occupy the finished building and populate it with their new showroom vehicles, opening the doors within 2 days of Handover.
